They Wake Up Early
We’ve all heard the saying, ‘the early bird catches the worm’, but it couldn’t be more true! Getting a good nights sleep and waking up early, immediately sets your day on the right track. Suddenly you have more time to work with, which means you get far more done.
They Always Plan their Day
Working towards a goal requires planning if you ever want to get there. Successful individuals are never ‘busy’, they are productive. Ask anyone who appears organised, the key is, good time management and planning. A simple checklist can really go a long way to getting better organised.
They Tackle the Big Problems First
High achievers don’t shy away from difficult tasks, in fact, they make a point of tackling them first. Once you’ve made that checklist, it’s far too tempting to pick the easiest projects and do those first. The problem is, this can be very de-motivating come the afternoon. You then end up, unable to fit everything into the day. Imagine an empty jar, if you partially fill it with sand first, you won’t be able to fit all the large rocks in after. However, if you fill the jar with the rocks first, the sand will slot in to the gaps quite nicely, then suddenly everything fits.
They Switch Off & Focus on Personal Project
Productivity is the result of a good work-life balance. Successful people are happy people, so they almost always have a hobby or personal focus alongside their careers. They’ve also learnt the importance of switching off from work every day, to spend time with their families, or to do the things they love.
They Remember to Exercise
Exercise focuses the mind, plus it’s a natural antidepressant, so it leaves you feeling great afterwards. Daily exercise doesn’t have to mean a tough workout, it could simply be a brisk walk or a yoga class with friends. Keeping fit and healthy allows you to function at optimum level and focus your attention towards your dreams.
They Map Toward their Goals
High achievers don’t just set targets, they map out a plan of action, setting out each step they need to take in order to get there. Each step closer to a goal needs to be measurable and completed within a set time frame. Without this framework many people get lost on the way to their dreams, they find themselves sidetracked, delayed, or completely lacking motivation, because the goal seems so unachievable. Successful people break down their goals and they know that success doesn’t happen overnight.
Looking at these 6 habits, the key to success seems to be excellent time management and preparation, a healthy and happy work-life balance, with a clear idea of what needs to be done to move from one position to the next.
